Safety Procedures for the Grizzly Industrial G0938 18″ Scroll Saw
- Wear Appropriate Safety Gear: Always wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from debris. Use hearing protection to guard against prolonged noise exposure and wear a dust mask to prevent inhalation of sawdust.
- Check the Work Area: Ensure the work area is well-lit and free from any clutter that could interfere with safe operation. Keep the area around the saw clear to prevent tripping or interference while working.
- Secure Workpieces Properly: Use the saw’s hold-down foot (if available) or clamps to secure the workpiece firmly to the table. This prevents the material from moving during cutting, reducing the risk of injury.
- Use the Correct Blade: Select the appropriate blade for the material and complexity of the cut. Ensure blades are sharp and in good condition before use to minimize the risk of breaking or bending.
- Follow Manufacturer’s Instructions: Always adhere to the manufacturer’s guidelines for operating and adjusting the saw. This includes speed settings, blade changes, and any specific safety recommendations.
- Disconnect Power Before Maintenance: Before performing any maintenance, adjustments, or blade changes, ensure the scroll saw is disconnected from the power source to prevent accidental startup.
Maintenance Tips Guidelines for the Grizzly Industrial G0938
- Regular Cleaning: Keep the saw clean from dust and debris after each use. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clear away sawdust from the table and moving parts.
- Lubricate Moving Parts: Periodically lubricate the saw’s moving parts according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure smooth operation and to prevent rust.
- Inspect Blades Regularly: Check blades for wear or damage and replace them as needed. A dull or damaged blade can affect the quality of your cuts and potentially lead to safety hazards.
- Check for Loose Components: Regularly inspect screws, knobs, and adjustments to ensure they are tight and secure. Loose components can affect the saw’s accuracy and safety.
- Monitor Belt Tension (if applicable): If your saw uses a drive belt, check the tension periodically to ensure it’s not too tight or too loose, following the manufacturer’s guidelines for adjustments.
- Storage: When not in use, cover the saw to protect it from dust and moisture. Store it in a dry, safe place out of the reach of children.

While I do not own a Grizzly , I do have 10 scroll saws . Two features about this saw are very impressive and contribute to the low vibration and quiet operation. 1- heavy iron table and 2- the tensioning mechanism is close to the cutter blade. These features allow me to operate several of my saw without the necessity. of having to bolt the saw to the stand or table.
