We asked Golden Oak to give us an estimate to remove two massive pine trees in our yard. Their price was competitive, so we hired them. We now regret it. The carelessness with which this company operates reveals a staggering level of incompetence. I took off work twice, only to have them not show up, losing valuable vacation days. Golden Oak not only caused thousands of dollars of damage to my property, but to my neighbors as well. The evidence of their negligence is overwhelming: Golden Oak crew dropped limbs on power lines left and right, cutting off my neighbor’s electricity causing the LADWP to come out on an emergency call at midnight to replace the main power line to her home. A crew member backed a truck into my neighbors brick mailbox, destroying it. Golden Oak owner Alejandro Sandoval Quezada said he would pay a thousand dollars for compensation, but paid him only a month later when my neighbor threatened to go to his place of business to collect. Crew members miscalculated when lowering a massive tree section weighing close to a ton, hitting the side of our home causing thousands of dollars in structural damage to our guest room. The crew backed a truck into our retaining wall, causing cracks and displacement in the block wall. Crew members knocked several pilaster caps off the masonry fence supports. Crew members dropped large trunk sections weighing hundreds of pounds, pulverizing the public sidewalk beneath the tree. Branches were dropped on our wood fence, damaging a dozen or more boards, necessitating the replacement of an entire fence panel. The crew dragged limbs out of the backyard over and around a mature privacy tree, destroying it down to a scraggly stump. Crew members damaged so many shingles on our shed we had to re-roof the entire structure. The team left piles of mulch, branches and trash on our property as well as on the public sidewalk and street for many days without cleaning it up. Neighbors complained directly to me about the Golden Oak crew blocking the street and private driveways. A neighbor was also left with branches and debris for days with out the crew coming back to take it away. We thought Golden Oak would do the right thing and foreman George assured everything would be taken care of, but they are mostly ignoring all of our calls, texts and emails for the last month. When they do contact us they say they’ll come over, get it done or look into it, but never follow up. Unfortunately we must now go to our insurance company to mitigate the damages to our property and file complaints where we can. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY.
