I have purchased this hummingbird feeder warmer and it has worked flawless last winter. This winter the low temperatures 14°F to 20°F with the wind froze the sugar mix. I improvise a styrofoam cup with a hole cut-out of the bottom of the cup to fit around the bulb. I then lined the inside of the styrofoam with tinfoil and secured the overlap with a rubber band. Leaving a half inch gap between the top of the wamer and the cup. It works wonders and the hummingbirds seem to appreciate it.

January 19, 2024 7:24 amDont buy this. Water and electricity dont mix. Its dangerous. It's way too expensive. Wrap your feeders in bubble wrap or use a shop light with a squirell baffle over it. Bring your feeders in and out if your dedicated at all. 12 year hosting Rufous hummingbirds in Houston rains. And artic snow snaps. B,L

January 15, 2024 6:15 pmI have 2 different sizes of heaters. I fully recommend the heater with the bigger top. The smaller one only keeps the syrup in the direct vicinity of the heater thawed. (So disappointing) for my tall feeder, I also wrap a fleece around the jar to keep it from freezing
Don't leave it out all night! The syrup thickened and became very hot. Bring it in at night and check often to be sure the feeder is full.
