A good performer for its size
I bought this saw as a 75th birthday present to myself to supplement my 22 year old Stihl 036 Pro, which is still going strong. My goal was to have a lighter, easy starting second saw to take on those jobs where the size and power of the bigger saw was not needed. I have been impressed with the capabilities of the MS 201 with a 16 inch bar. Its light weight and easy start system are a big plus, but it is by no means a midget saw. I find myself using it on bigger trees than I had expected.

Outstanding
This is one of the those tools you didn't know you needed until you have one. Yes there are at least a couple of other Stihl saws that can get the job done for a lot less money. But none that do it with the ease and comfort of this one. I would not recommend this as a first saw for anyone. I don't think you can really appreciate it until you spend a couple hundred hours on the other end of an old school chainsaw. I bought this to replace an 028 AV that I used for over 30 years until it was stolen. Never would have believed you could find a better saw than that but here it is.

All in One Super Saw
Great for what I use it for, cutting brush. Also can cut up fallen trees. Just be patient on large limbs and trunks. Let the saw cut through itself. I cut up a 18 inch diameter fallen tree yesterday. I have put app. 100 hours on the saw. Great saw mainly for brush, but can cut bigger stuff. Lightweight. I can use it all day. If cutting cords of wood or large trees as your primary use get a larger saw. If needing a universal saw with the main use smaller stuff, get this one. I love it. Cost is high, but I have found it well worth it many times over. With 16" blade I don't have to bend over as much or reach into the brush as far to cut. I would buy this again in a minute. I am now looking at a bigger saw because we have many downed trees. I will then have 2 Stihl saws. In the immediate family we probably have 10 Stihl saws. Very happy family.

Excellent light weight saw!!!!!!!!
I worked the saw all day. I used it for limbing up of about 40 trees I dropped using my ms 261 CEM(another great saw). This saw has very sharp chain and was very maneuverable in some thick clutter from the dropping of the trees. Features I like: 1. Light and very compact 2. very very easy to start 3. no vibration feature doesn't shake and jar you 4. easy to handle in tight quarters. 5. cuts without wanting to back down I haven't tried it on the large stuff yet up to about 1 to 10 inches.This saw is probably how the new saws will be coming out in the future. Little saw with a powerful punch. Throws large chips never had problems with oiling. highly reccommend
