Good day Fellow woodworkers, I have had my fair share of experience with chainsaws. The EGO Power+ CS1803 caught my attention with its promise of a powerful, cordless, and eco-friendly performance. In this review, I will cover my personal experience with this chainsaw and provide an in-depth analysis of its features, performance, and comparisons with its competitors.
I found the EGO Power+ CS1803 to be an excellent chainsaw that exceeded my expectations. The brushless motor equipped in the chainsaw delivers an impressive 6800 RPM, which allows me to effortlessly cut through thick branches and logs. The 18-inch Oregon bar and chain make it a versatile tool that I can use for a variety of tasks, from light trimming to more demanding cutting jobs.
During my usage, I found that the chainsaw lasted for approximately 40 minutes with continuous use on a single 5.0Ah battery, which is more than sufficient for most residential tasks. This long-lasting battery life ensures that I can complete my work without any interruptions or delays.
Let’s delve deeper into the performance aspects of the EGO Power+ CS1803 chainsaw.
Power Output and Cutting Efficiency
Equipped with a high-efficiency brushless motor, the EGO Power+ CS1803 delivers a remarkable 6800 RPM (rotations per minute), making it one of the most powerful cordless chainsaws on the market. This impressive power output ensures swift and efficient cutting through various types of wood, including hardwoods and larger-diameter logs.
The 18-inch Oregon bar and chain provide a generous cutting capacity, allowing users to tackle a wide range of tasks. This combination of power and cutting capacity ensures that the chainsaw can handle everything from light trimming and pruning to more demanding cutting jobs, such as firewood preparation and storm clean-up.
One of the standout features of the EGO Power+ CS1803 is its battery life. Powered by a 5.0Ah 56V lithium-ion battery, the chainsaw provides around 40 minutes of continuous use, which is significantly longer than many other cordless chainsaws on the market. This extended battery life allows users to complete most residential tasks without having to recharge or swap batteries frequently.
Moreover, the EGO Power+ battery platform is compatible with a wide range of other EGO Power+ tools, which means users can easily swap batteries between tools, further extending the chainsaw’s runtime if necessary.
The EGO Power+ CS1803 delivers consistent performance throughout its runtime, maintaining its cutting efficiency even as the battery’s charge decreases. This consistent power delivery is crucial for users who require a reliable tool that won’t lose its cutting effectiveness as the battery drains.
Safety is a critical aspect of any chainsaw’s performance, and the EGO Power+ CS1803 doesn’t disappoint in this regard. It features a low kickback design and chain brake, both of which significantly reduce the risk of injury during operation. These safety features ensure that users can confidently operate the chainsaw without compromising on performance.
In summary, the EGO Power+ CS1803’s performance is characterized by its powerful output, efficient cutting capacity, extended battery life, and consistent performance throughout its runtime. Coupled with its safety features, the chainsaw offers users a reliable and efficient tool for tackling a wide range of cutting tasks.
Comparisons and Competitors
I have come across several notable competitors to the EGO Power+ CS1803. To get a better sense of how this chainsaw stacks up against its competitors, I decided to take a closer look at three popular alternatives: the Greenworks Pro 80V, the Husqvarna 120i, and the DEWALT DCCS670X1 FLEXVOLT.
I was able to compare the various features, performance, and specifications of each chainsaw, allowing me to make an informed decision. By doing this, I was able to gain valuable insight into what sets the EGO Power+ CS1803 apart from the competition, and ultimately why it is the best option for my needs.
- Greenworks Pro 80V
The Greenworks Pro 80V chainsaw features a brushless motor, delivering 6600 RPM, which is slightly lower than the 6800 RPM offered by the EGO Power+ CS1803. Although both chainsaws have an 18-inch bar and chain, the Greenworks Pro has a lower run time of approximately 30 minutes with its 2.0Ah battery, compared to the 40 minutes on the EGO Power+ with a 5.0Ah battery. Additionally, the Greenworks Pro is slightly heavier at 12.8 lbs, making the EGO Power+ CS1803 a more lightweight and comfortable option.
- Husqvarna 120i
The Husqvarna 120i is a lightweight and compact chainsaw with a 14-inch bar and chain, making it less versatile than the EGO Power+ CS1803 for tackling larger cutting tasks. While it has a brushless motor, the Husqvarna 120i does not disclose its RPM, making it difficult to compare power output directly. The battery life of the Husqvarna 120i is also shorter, providing only 30-35 minutes of run time on a single charge. However, the Husqvarna 120i is lighter at 10.8 lbs, making it easier to handle for extended periods.
- DEWALT DCCS670X1 FLEXVOLT
The DEWALT DCCS670X1 FLEXVOLT offers a 16-inch bar and chain, which falls between the EGO Power+ CS1803 and the Husqvarna 120i in terms of cutting capacity. With its brushless motor, it delivers a competitive 6300 RPM but still falls short of the 6800 RPM provided by the EGO Power+ CS1803. The DEWALT FLEXVOLT offers a run time of around 45 minutes to an hour on its 3.0Ah battery, which is similar to the EGO Power+. However, the DEWALT chainsaw is heavier at 12.2 lbs, making it less comfortable for prolonged use.
Here’s a comparison table featuring the EGO Power+ CS1803 and its competitors:

It also features an auto-tensioning system, ensuring the chain remains tight and secure. Additionally, the chainsaw has a low kickback design and chain brake for added safety.
The ergonomic handle and lightweight design (11.4 lbs) make it comfortable to use for extended periods, even for those with limited upper body strength. Furthermore, the weather-resistant construction ensures reliable performance in various weather conditions.

EGO Power+ CS1803 18 in. 56 V Battery Chainsaw Kit (Battery & Charger)
I too have an older EGO chainsaw. A couple of extra benefits worth mentioning. For the occasional user, like myself, there is no need to worry about stale fuel when not used for a prolonged period of time. The lack of vibration and noise between cuts is worth mentioning as well, not to mention that ZERO battery is being used between cuts. So all the fuel goes to cutting, and none to idling.

When cutting on an angle not enough chain oil comes on to bar. I use my Ryiob for horizontal cuts no problems!
